Worship stands at the heart of Cathedral life. We bring to worship all that we are; our hopes and dreams, the irrepressible joys of life as well as life's aching sorrows. Like human beings through the ages, we are drawn to worship to experience the mystery of God, to be nurtured and challenged by God's Word, and to be inspired and strengthened to serve the world. We welcome all to worship.
9:00 AM - The Holy Eucharist
A quiet, intimate service without music, using the traditional language of the Book of Common Prayer and including a homily.
The Sunday Forum meets on Sundays during the academic year from 9:45 AM to 10:50 AM.
11:00 AM - The Holy Eucharist
A magnificent service with glorious music deeply rooted in the breadth and dignity of Anglican worship and including a sermon. An informal coffee hour follows this liturgy.
6:00 PM - Sundays at Six
(October through June)
An informal and dignified service of worship blending liturgical expression from the ancient to the contemporary, supported by music from a variety of idioms from Taizé to jazz to African American to familiar favorites in the Anglican tradition.
Children are always welcome at the American Cathedral. During the academic year, Sunday School meets during the 11:00 AM service, with older children joining their parents in the Nave of the Cathedral for communion. On some occasions special anthems by the children of the Sunday School are offered during the 11:00 AM service and on some occasions a children's homily is included in the 11:00 AM service. There is excellent nursery care for children under 3 throughout the 11:00 AM service.
