Born in 1991, Edward Dean is the Assisting Organist at the American Cathedral in Paris. His duties include assisting the training of the choristers alongside performing for both the cathedral’s regular and extra services.

Before joining us at the Cathedral, he was Organ Scholar at St. Bride's, Fleet Street (London), working under the supervision of Robert Harre-Jones, Director of Music. St. Bride’s has one of London’s foremost professional choirs.

In addition to his role at the Cathedral, Edward continues his studies under Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin at Saint-Sulpice (Paris) as a part of his BMus (Hons) course at the Royal College of Music, London. For the Germanic repertoire, his principal teacher is David Graham (Church of the Immaculate Conception, Mayfair); Terence Charlston is his harpsichord tutor.

Prior to entering the Royal College of Music, Edward was the first Organ Scholar ever appointed at Lancing College, home to the largest chapel in the world; his principal tutors at this time were Neil Cox and Adrian Bawtree.

Recent performance and recital venues have included St Paul’s Cathedral (London), Southwark Cathedral, St David’s Cathedral (Pembrokeshire), and a live-broadcast performance of Strauss’s ‘Eine Alpensinfonie’ under the baton of Maestro Bernard Haitink from the Royal College of Music’s Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. He was also the resident harpsichordist for Podiumfestivalen Haugesund (Norway) during their 2011 season.
