Projects for Haiti: a time to rebuild

Haiti cathedral mural

On January 12, 2010, an earthquake destroyed la Cathédrale Sainte Trinité, the heart and soul of Haiti's Episcopal diocese. Today, God calls us to help rebuild it. This is a natural initiative for Episcopalians and Anglicans worldwide. No one is in a better position to help. Led in Europe by Bishop Pierre Whalon and our Partners With Haiti group, we are uniting to support Bishop Jean Zaché Duracin and his people in their effort to restore what was lost. You are invited to come to a collection station after the service to contribute and receive a symbolic brick to stack.

All donations are deductible under U.S. and French tax laws; receipts will be sent later. Gifts will go to the Episcopal Church's Haiti fund and will be used exclusively for the Cathedral in Haiti.

Please make euro checks out to The Junior Guild-Haiti and dollar checks to DFMS with the important notation Partners with Haiti--Cathedral. Donations also will be accepted in collections in coming months and by mail: The Junior Guild, 23, Avenue George V, 75008 Paris. Give generously for our Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ.

A Prayer for Haiti

In your private prayers for the people of Haiti, you might want to use this prayer by The Rt. Rev. Jeffery Rowthorn, our former Bishop-in-Charge:

Jesus, Savior in times of storm, when the waters of the deep are broken up and all the landmarks crumble before our eyes, come to our aid and hold us up. Support the people of Haiti at this time lest they sink in hopelessness and despair. Empower those who are responding to their need; uphold the bereaved in their grief; and let your light shine in the present darkness to lead us all to the city securely built on your love; In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
