Cathedral construction: The « soft » launch has begun!
As of last Monday, December 12, the Cathedral began its metamorphosis into the new facility we’ve been talking about, raising money for, and longing for, for years. It all started with some plywood - actually lots of plywood - which is being used to cover and protect the cloister and Deanery building in anticipation of deep digging in the Deans’ garden.
Next week will see the surreal vision of heavy equipment being lifted up and over the parish house, from the impasse Berthillon behind, and carefully lowered into the garden where serious excavation will begin in the new year. As we literally lose sight for a time of many beautiful elements of our church, we can take hope in the new vision of the enlarged, more user-friendly, and more functional space that awaits us. Here we go…
