Stewardship

At the American Cathedral of Paris, we believe that everyone is called to be a part of the ministry of stewardship. A steward is someone who has been entrusted with another’s resources and who seeks to manage these resources according to the owner’s vision and values. We have been granted responsibility for what ultimately belongs to God: our lives, the lives of others and everything around us, with the purpose that we be proper stewards of these gifts.

In 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded to serve one another in response to God’s grace in our lives. Peter writes, “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.”

Therefore, our gifts, talents and resources are to be used in service of God and one another. This is our inspiration at the American Cathedral - we strive to act as responsible stewards of God’s grace and blessings in our lives - not only our talents and skills, but also our possessions and finances. Our practice of stewardship is a journey that begins with an intentional choice to offer everything that we have and are to God and develop a life of thankfulness and generosity in response.
