Mission & outreach

The Mission & Outreach (M&O) Committee offers parishioners the opportunity to respond personally to Jesus Christ's command to care for those in need through hands-on service and/or material and financial support. Financially, the Cathedral allocates 10% of its previous year's plate and pledge income (the Biblical tithe) to mission and outreach, using the United Nations Millennium Development Goals to help select projects. In each case, the committee looks for multiple opportunities for long-term personal involvement, to appeal to a wide range of skills and interests amongst parishioners. In addition, the Cathedral hosts a mission lunch every Friday for as many as 65 people in difficulty, spearheads the preparation of more than 2,000 Love-in-a-Box gifts for needy children, trains adults at the Maison des Tilleuls in the Paris suburbs in simple computer skills and sends parishioners to Portugal for a week each summer to work for Habitat for Humanity.
